Configuring iPhone or iPod Touch for Exchange Synchronization

One thing a lot of instructions out there don't mention is the fact that a lot of Exchange installations don't use properly authorized SSL Certificates for their OWA and ActiveSync. This presents a problem when configuring Apple products to use ActiveSync. To get it to work if you are in this situation:
  1. Create the Exchange account on the iPhone or iPod as you normally would.
  2. When the device fails the test, click Save.
  3. When the device returns you to your email screen, go back into the Email Setup window and edit the properties of the Exchange account.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Exchange account properties and clear the check box for 'Use SSL.'

That's it! This will fix your iPhone sync problem 99% of the time if the issue is SSL.
